We come from sound

Lemö Labs Audio did not start with a plugin, or with artificial intelligence.

Its origin is years of work around recording, music production, sound engineering and picture. Studio sessions, musicians, film shoots, mixing, post-production, composition, technology and teaching were part of our path long before Lemö Labs existed.

A significant part of that origin is Green Cross Studio, our recording and music production studio in Málaga, and the seed of what we are now taking into wider territory.

Green Cross gave us something that still sits at the base of Lemö Audio: studio culture.

Working with a signal from the moment it enters a microphone to the moment it becomes part of a production. Recording a performance. Choosing a chain. Listening before processing. Producing, editing, mixing, getting it wrong, going back, and making decisions until something works.

Alongside that experience there is a long history in sound for picture and specialized technical teaching. For years we have worked around the processes that connect sound, music, technology and image, not only using them but studying, structuring and teaching them.

That background is still here. What has changed is what is possible.

The studio is mutating

We are working at a moment when the borders between music production, picture, software and artificial intelligence are starting to disappear.

And we want to be exactly there.

At Lemö Labs we research and develop new workflows, combining traditional tools, digital processing, software and generative technologies. We do not see AI as a substitute for the experience that came before it, but as a new layer on top of it.

Because a tool can change radically and the problem stays exactly the same:

what we want to hear, and how we get there.

That is why defending categories does not interest us much. Analog or digital. Hardware or software. Traditional or generative.

What interests us is what each technology brings, what it costs, and what we can do with it that we could not do before.

From using tools to building them

Lemö Audio is also a natural consequence of that evolution.

After years working with tools designed by others, we started building our own.

Not necessarily to reproduce machines that already exist, or to port another catalog of studio classics into software. We are interested in using all that knowledge as a starting point and asking what we can do differently.

Designing our own processes. Altering known chains. Combining behaviors. Introducing new forms of interaction. Building tools with a logic and a character of their own.

ANÖMALY CMA-01 is the first result of that direction.

It is not meant to be the end of that path.

It is where the mutation begins.
